Lisbon Nov 30th – Dec 4th

We loved Lisbon! We spent a few days in Lisbon and did not regret it. The seafood, the culture, the weather, and the beautiful city – we just loved it all! However, if you think Madrid is hilly, well, Lisbon will beat that! But you have breathtaking views wherever you look, and you are very close to the ocean. I also followed the soccer championship here and watched the game of Germany in a Restaurant (even though we were out of the tournament after that game). I was not the only German, but still, we did not “huddle together.” (Portugal was already on to the next stage at that point, so they were not interested in that game) We also met one of the friendliest bus drivers on this trip in Lisbon! After we arrived in Lisbon, we had to take the local bus to the hostel and, of course, took the bus in the wrong direction. The bus driver explained to us where to go; as it turns out, he was also the bus driver when it came around to go in the other direction. At first, we did not realize it, but he remembered, and when our bus stop came up, he told us that this was where we needed to exit and, “until next time”! We also found an amazing breakfast place in Lisbon right next to the hostel. We ate there every morning until we left.

Wir haben Lissabon geliebt! Wir haben ein paar Tage in Lissabon verbracht und haben es nicht bereut. Die Meeresfrüchte, die Kultur, das Wetter und die schöne Stadt - wir haben es einfach alles geliebt! Wie auch immer, wenn man denkt, Madrid ist hügelig, dann wird Lissabon das locker toppen! Aber man hat atemberaubende Aussichten wo man auch hinsieht und man ist sehr nah zum Meer. Ich habe auch hier die Fußball-WM verfolgt und haben mir das Deutschlandspiel in einem Restaurant angesehen (auch wenn wir aus dem Turnier nach diesem Spiel ausgeschieden sind). Ich war nicht die einzige Deutsche, und dennoch haben wir uns Deutsche nicht in einem Rudel zusammen-gesetzt. (Portugal hatte sich schon für die nächste Runde qualifiziert, daher haben sie sich weniger für dieses Spiel interessiert) Wir haben einen der freundlichsten Busfahrer hier getroffen! Nachdem wir in Lissabon angekommen waren, mussten wir den städtischen Bus zum Hostel nehmen und natürlich sind wir prompt in die falsche Richtung gefahren. Der Busfahrer hat uns dann erklärt, wohin wir mussten, um die Richtung zu wechseln. Es stellte sich dann heraus, dass er auch den Bus in die andere Richtung fuhr. Zuerst haben wir das gar nicht bemerkt, aber er erinnerte sich und als unser Bus an unserer Haltestelle ankam, rief er uns zu, dass wir hier rausmussten und meinte „Bis zum nächsten Mal!“ Wir haben auch ein exzellentes Frühstücks-Restaurant gefunden, gleich neben dem Hostel. Wir haben dort jeden Morgen bis zu unserer Abreise gegessen.

¡Lisboa nos encantó! Pasamos unos días en Lisboa y no nos arrepentimos. Los mariscos, la cultura, el clima y la hermosa ciudad, ¡nos encantó todo! Sin embargo, si crees que Madrid es montañoso, ¡Lisboa superará eso! Pero tienes vistas impresionantes dondequiera que mires, y estás muy cerca del océano. También seguí el campeonato de fútbol aquí y vi el partido de Alemania en un restaurante (aunque quedamos fuera del torneo después de ese partido). Yo no era el único alemán, pero aun así, no nos “juntamos”. (Portugal ya estaba en la siguiente etapa en ese momento, por lo que no estaban interesados ​​​​en ese juego) ¡También conocimos a uno de los conductores de autobús más amigables en este viaje en Lisboa! Después de llegar a Lisboa, tuvimos que tomar el autobús local hasta el albergue y, por supuesto, tomamos el autobús en la dirección equivocada. El conductor del autobús nos explicó a dónde ir; resulta que él también era el conductor del autobús cuando se dio la vuelta para ir en la otra dirección. Al principio no nos dimos cuenta, pero él lo recordó, y cuando llegó nuestra parada de autobús, nos dijo que allí era donde teníamos que salir y, ¡“hasta la próxima”! También encontramos un increíble lugar para desayunar en Lisboa, justo al lado del albergue. Comimos allí todas las mañanas hasta que nos fuimos.
