Dortmund/ Vennikel/ Dinslaken Nov 10th -14th

We stayed with one of my aunts in Dortmund, and even though she has lived there my whole life, I have never played tourist in the city. This time, we did! My aunt prepared an excellent city tour for us: here is a fun fact – Dortmund has the largest Christmas tree in Europe! We also went above the city and enjoyed a fabulous view. My family showered us with a ton of good food, and we had a biiiig typical German breakfast every day. With my grandparents, we had a wonderful lunch at the river Rhein where we could observe big ships come and go. With my other aunt, we also had a delicious lunch in Dinslaken with locally sourced ingredients (including the water!) and cake afterward! Needless to say, we left Germany with a few extra pounds…

In Dortmund haben wir eine meiner Tanten besucht und obwohl sie schon mein ganzes Leben lang dort lebt, habe ich nie Tourist gespielt. Dieses Mal habe ich das nachgeholt! Meine Tante hat eine exzellente Stadtführung für uns vorbereitet: hier ist eine mir bis dahin noch unbekannte Information – Dortmund hat den größten Weihnachtsbaum in Europa! Wir haben auch einen Ausblick von oben auf die Stadt genossen. Meine Familie hat uns mit sehr viel gutem Essen überhäuft und wir hatten jeden Morgen ein großes typisch deutsches Frühstück. Wir hatten ein sehr leckeres Mittagessen mit meinen Großeltern am Rhein, wo wir große Schiffe ein- und ausfahren sehen konnten. Mit meiner anderen Tante hatten wir auch ein sehr leckeres Mittagessen in Dinslaken, das mit lokalen Zutaten zubereitet wurde (sogar das Wasser war aus der Gegend) und Kuchen danach! Ich brauche nicht zu erwähnen, dass wir Deutschland mit ein paar extra Kilos verlassen haben...

Nos quedamos con una de mis tías en Dortmund, y aunque ella ha vivido allí toda mi vida, nunca he jugado al turista en la ciudad. ¡Esta vez, lo hicimos! Mi tía preparó un excelente recorrido por la ciudad para nosotros: he aquí un hecho divertido: ¡Dortmund tiene el árbol de Navidad más grande de Europa! También pasamos por encima de la ciudad y disfrutamos de una vista fabulosa. Mi familia nos colmó con un montón de buena comida, y todos los días tomamos un gran desayuno típico alemán. Con mis abuelos, comimos de maravilla en el río Rhein, donde pudimos observar el ir y venir de grandes barcos. Con mi otra tía, también tuvimos un delicioso almuerzo en Dinslaken con ingredientes de origen local (¡incluida el agua!) ¡Y luego pastel! No hace falta decir que salimos de Alemania con unos kilitos de más…
